It's time to take the next step in your career and join a company recognized as a worldwide market leader in providing software solutions to the Public Safety and Utilities markets!Hexagon's Safety & Infrastructure divisionis seeking a full-time, permanentApplication Consultant to join its Implementation Services team located at our Calgary, Alberta or Mississauga, Ontario office location.Hexagon will also consider qualified candidates working in a virtual, home office environment.Whether office, or home office based, candidates will be required to travel to client sites in Canada (pursuant to COVID-19 travel restrictions being relaxed or lifted).Hexagon's Safety & Infrastructure divisionis a professional sales and services team that provides solutions throughout North America for Public Safety and Utilities & Communications markets.Your Mission:As an Application Consultantwith strengths in troubleshooting, implementations, installations, and development, you will apply both your technical and functional knowledge in contributing to project delivery by providing your services for a variety of clients in the Public Safety & Utilities and Communications industry. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Acting as a technical resource on software implementation projects, including gathering client requirements, creating solution design, providing recommendations to clients on best practices, as well as supporting the clients' resources throughout the various phases of the project;
  • Installing, testing and configuring the Intergraph I/CAD suite of products and interfaces at client sites in critical 911 environments;
  • Troubleshooting installations and providing onsite and remote support to clients;
  • Leveraging Hexagon's EdgeFrontier integration toolkit to develop solutions that integrate disparate systems;
  • Performing and consulting on Oracle or SQL server database administration, including database archiving, specific data integrity issues, troubleshooting, performance improvements and general system administration;
  • Occasionally using development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio to write custom software components in support of integration solutions;
  • Supporting pre-sales activities, such as assisting in product demonstrations to customers and prospects, attending events and trade shows, contributing to Request for Proposals, and preparing proof of concepts;
  • Up to 25% travel and/or on-site work throughout Canada, along with periodic travel to the US, are requirements of this position.


  • Qualifications

    Your Skills & Experience
    • A Bachelor's University degree is required in a technical discipline or a non-technical University degree with a technical diploma (in Programming or GIS is preferred);
    • At least 7 years' experience implementing and configuring software solutions, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment;
    • Advanced analytical and technical skills including:
      • Prior experience as a Business Analyst Lead;
      • Proficiency in visual communication and analysis (data visualization) as well as building reports and dashboard designs;
      • Demonstrated ability to use analytical solutions to solve complex business-related problems using data-driven techniques;
      • Hands-on technical experience with leading BI technologies such as Power BI;
      • Experience working in a Windows client-server environment;
      • At least 5 years' experience with SQL server is required (Oracle is nice to have), preferably on mid to large sized installations;
      • Experience working with integration frameworks/toolkits such as SQL Server Integration Services is desired;
      • Experience developing small-scale applications or components using Microsoft Visual Studio (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, etc.) is desired.

    · Excellent communications skills in English, both oral and written, French is an asset;

    · Experience leading and documenting requirement definition activities;

    · Ability to deliver customer workshops and product training to technical and non-technical audiences;

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

    · Experience with the Public Safety (Fire, EMS, Police) sector is an asset;

    · Experience with implementing BI solutions for the Public Safety sector is an asset;

    · Experience with the Intergraph I/CAD suite of products is an asset;

    · Experience with geographical information systems (GIS) is an asset;

    · Prior experience supporting pre-sales & sales activities isdesired.
