This position reports to the Director, GeoServices & Land. The candidate will be working with a diverse team of energetic geoscientists, engineers, technicians, and technologists and will be required to participate in project committees. This position is located in Saskatoon, SK and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:
  • Support and advance our GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), microseismic and remote monitoring systems and instrumentation networks
  • Provide technical and project leadership on centrally coordinated projects, such as continuous improvement of our GPR systems used at our operating mines
  • Work with diverse teams including external groups, evaluate new prospective technology and support and advance applied research projects for our mining operations
  • As a Subject Matter Expert, stay fluent with the technologies, contribute to the body of knowledge, and review technical requirements of new proposed projects
  • Nutrien has a variety of innovation and digital transformation projects underway where you can get involved, specifically with automation and data science, working with the teams to find and implement unique solutions to complex problems

What you will bring:
  • A basic knowledge of instrumentation and networks is essential
  • Fluency in data science, with knowledge of data historians and instrument integration
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with ability to work on interdisciplinary teams is essential
  • Candidates must have practical experience with prototyping languages such as Python or Matlab.
  • Must be able to work in industrial environments and conventional underground mines
  • Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Systems Engineering or equivalent degree and experience from an accredited university
  • While experience in specific technologies mentioned is not required, candidate must have at least 3 years of work experience demonstrating ability in evaluation and exploitation of diverse technologies for solving practical problems
  • Must hold or be eligible for APEGS professional engineering designation
