Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN), part of Ontario Health, is responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Ontario. Our mandate includes increasing public awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals, and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Ontario.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Clinical Donation Services, the Director, Hospital Programs, Performance and Evaluation is responsible for the planning and oversight of the collaborative efforts to fully integrate organ and tissue donation leading practices in assigned designated hospitals across Ontario. This role is responsible for ensuring adequate on-site support to donor hospitals, ensuring effective case management of potential donors.

Here is what you will be doing:

Ensures highly efficient and effective case coordination for organ and tissue donation within donor hospitals

Ensures the safety and quality of services within portfolio

Ensures effective linkages within Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) and with donor hospitals

Provides the day-to-day management and supervision of staff

Leads the setting of program/service priorities that align with the organization's corporate priorities and business plan

Maximizes the volume of organ and tissue donors through the identification, implementation and monitoring of strategies and tactics identified to achieve targeted volumes

Sets priorities for operating and capital resources across the organ tissue and donation systems; develop budget and/or business cases to support these priorities

Maximizes operational efficiencies through effective monitoring of resource utilization and action as required

Leads the investigation and implementation of best practices and innovative systems/processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organ and tissue donation performance of Ontario's designated hospitals

Sets the environment that enables the program/service to meet/exceed evidence-based practice standards and regulatory requirements

Leads the introduction of best practices and innovation to achieve a high level of performance and stakeholder satisfaction

Leads an effective monitoring system to measure standards of practice, service, and satisfaction, including evaluation and adjustment for continuous improvement

Participates in donation system networks and other professional groups to advance the provision of services

Develops partnerships and structures to support the continuum of services

Works with stakeholders to monitor system level performance and identify opportunities for improvement

Shares the expertise of TGLN with organ donation partners and other service providers

Develops and foster critical relationships with hospital management, hospital organ and tissue donation stakeholders/champions and referring hospitals to further the strategic direction of TGLN

Participates in Manager-On-Call duties (24 hour on call 7 x per month along with other Managers/Directors); critical decision-making including donor management, coroner, Hospital Donation Support Physician (DSP) and Administrator on Call (AOC) escalation, huddles on active cases to provide guidance and oversight

Provides formal and informal feedback to staff

Conducts performance appraisals annually to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement

Fosters a collaborative work environment where the team contributes to the success of Hospital Programs and the overall organization

Models a leadership style that is flexible, responsible, and appropriate to the circumstances ensuring employees, colleagues and stakeholders are informed, involved, and heard in an environment of mutual respect

Provides leadership to team; this includes sharing knowledge and best practices; providing direct reports with coaching and guidance on a broad spectrum of matters; is responsible for the ongoing development of direct reports

Works in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety/ Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

Regulated Health Professional with a background in critical care or related health care field in good standing with the applicable Regulatory College, CNO registration is preferred

Master's degree in Science, Health Science, Management, Arts, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of management experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

Knowledge and Skills

Proven experienced health care professional with a background in critical care and/or organ donation

Proven experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential

Proven ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including physicians, stakeholders, and other departments.

Proven capability to recommend strategic direction and develop programs

Demonstrated exceptional written, oral and presentation skills

Demonstrated expertise in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in high pressure environment

Demonstrated influencing, negotiating, and counselling skills

Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario's health care system, hospital healthcare delivery practices, and related regulations

Computer usage skills, word processing and electronic forms usage are required in addition to utilizing software applications

Salary Band: 9
