Job Description:
Van Belle Nursery , a leading grower of ornamental plants for major Canadian mass market retailers, is looking for a motivated and organized individual. This full-time position is a one year contract to cover maternity leave with potential to lead to permanent employment.
About the position:
You are responsible for meeting and exceeding quality standards for Print Production, and to manage the Print Shop seasonal staff in daily tasks with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Availability is required for longer production shifts during the high peak of shipping from about mid-April to the end of May.

Horticultural tags are produced using a combination of automated and manual finishing techniques.
Team works together to maintain equipment and a clean environment each day.
Other tasks may be assigned as required to help our team achieve our production and shipping goals.
Maintain lean process flow for retail-ready plant shipments, that starts with the preparation of paperwork for the fulfillment team, and ends with completion of tag orders for the shipping and packing team.
Production duties :
print and process orders using a combination of automated and manual techniques.
for in-season, on-demand shipping (same-day, rapid & 100% accurate turnaround).
for ongoing nursery production needs.
for external customers.
Be responsible for understanding the goals for the day and ensuring the team stays on track, working on the right thing at the right time, while maintaining a clean and safe environment each day.
To communicate clearly and frequently with the team about production status and when priorities change.
Other tasks may be assigned as required to help our team achieve our production and shipping goals.
During slow production times, willingness to flex to other departments; E-Commerce, Inventory, and Production.
Your Qualifications:
You communicate effectively with peers and can manage repetitive tasks while still maintaining excellent attention to detail, especially when priorities change on a daily basis.
You are organized, methodical, and process driven to ensure the processes are running smoothly and without avoidable disruption.
You are a team player who asks questions and is willing to learn more everyday.
You are comfortable around computers and machinery and can handle a noisy environment.
Willingness to learn internal software. Complete training is provided.
Ability to lift up to 60lbs, and to stand for long periods of time.
You are fluent in written and spoken English; plant knowledge and Spanish would be an asset.
Previous print shop experience is very welcomed but not required. Complete training is provided.
