Color Ad Packaging is a Winnipeg based leading producer of quality commercial packaging products. We are focused on providing our customers with world-class flexible packaging solutions that are manufactured in a clean and safe work environment.

We are currently seeking an experienced Print Production Manager to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The function of the Print Production Manager is to supervise and direct the Print Department including Press, Platemaking / Mounting, Lamination and Hot Foil Stamp in such a way as to consistently prepare materials to produce a quality product in the most efficient manner. It is also to ensure that all jobs are printed according to standard by following all of the established protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and enforce all Print, Mounting/Platemaking, Lamination, Hot Foil and Graphic protocols and SOPs.
Managing waste to ensure that set ups and run waste is in line with factored waste.
Ensures that all machines are cleaned on the monthly schedule.
Oversees the overall cleanliness and organization of the Department.
Ensures that all quality control testing is effectively completed.
Quality / Errors, to be tracked daily and reported weekly (Excel).
Ensures estimated waste levels are not exceeded and works with the team to reduce waste.
Evaluates equipment effectiveness and arranges the scheduled maintenance or downtime for repairs.
Implements all Continuous Improvement initiatives in a timely fashion.
Coordinates with other department managers and Account Managers for job status updates or issues that may affect Color Ad jobs.
Ensures Managers and supervisors are aware of what production needs to be shipped out that day/week.
Ensures production requirements are being met, and if not, what adjustments need to be made.
Completes all quarantine duties according to Color Ad's Quarantine Procedure/Process.
Ensures that waste disposal procedures are effectively followed as per standard operating procedures.
Evaluates employees' efficiency on a daily basis.
Conducts annual performance appraisals for each employee.
Recommends appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
Writes Non-Conformance Reports for any defective materials/processes and ensures implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Provides production encouragement to meet standard targets.
Informs purchasing department when plant is running low on consumables.
Ensures that employees are adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Adheres to all requirements of Color Ad's Food Safety Program. Reports any issues noticed to a member of the Food Safety Team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have the ability to interact and manage conflict in stressful situations without losing his/her composure.
Should have 3 to 5 years of experience with printing Flexographic and Gravure process work.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills, including leading by example and dealing with individuals at all level in a fair and respectful manner.
Willingness to make the right decisions for the business and the employees.
Must understand and value people as the most important organizational asset.
Knowledge of pre-press, adhesive lamination, and rewinding a plus.
Must be able to read specifications, order jackets, production schedules and other relevant documents and be able to understand their implications.
Must have a working knowledge and ability to use e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
