Here's the Scoop - Summary

The Supply Chain & Logistics Lead is responsible for internal inventory procurement, and ensuring the Company receives the correct ingredients on time to support operations within Canada. In addition, the position is responsible for entering new products into the system, creating and maintaining purchase orders, and ensuring that the flow of inventory guarantees optimum stock levels to meet production needs.

This position is based out of our brand-new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Acheson, Alberta, and will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

What an ordinary day looks like:
  • Provide supervision to the Logistics Coordinator, ensuring they have the support and tools needed to accurately maintain the receiving schedule and documents required for the Supply Chain team, Operations and Quality Assurance.
  • Review and process claims against suppliers.
  • Manage project related teams and initiatives.
  • Supply chain management support, including assisting in implementing process improvements and assisting in planning, organizing, and evaluating supply chain activities.
  • Enter inventory schedules for the following month into the system, monitor progress, and contact clients and suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Assisting in analyzing inventory needs based on sales trends and inventory levels.
  • Place purchase orders while ensuring flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets production goals.
  • Maintain database for all purchase orders to ensure they are up to date and provide information for analysis and reporting.
  • Update the master supply list on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide product, storage and order information to all internal departments, as requested.
  • Advise departments of potential procurement issues and lead time required to obtain products or services.
  • Maintain awareness of internal and external factors impacting supply chain, and assist in making alternate arrangements in the event of shortages, overages, or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned. May provide back up to Supply Chain Manager during absences.

What are we looking for?
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management and/or other relevant education.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a Supply Chain role.
  • Previous supervisory and/or lead experience.

Working Conditions
  • Work environment is in a pet food production facility office (on-site); the position works majority of time in the office with occasional time in the facility, with exposure to dust, noise, odours, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to conduct presentations both in person and virtually.
  • Able to physically inspect company property and assets.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Available to work hours as required to meet the needs of the business.
