When entering our Bracebridge Barrelhouse you can expect to see all your Lake of Bays favourites, plus experimental one-offs, barrel aged brews and seasonals, brewed right in our microbrewery! Our expanding Barrelhouse currently boasts 4,200 sq. ft. spread over two floors with seating for 137 people.

We love to support fellow Canadian businesses. As a Full-time Chef you'd be responsible for assisting in the supervision of back-of-house operations, food preparation and recipe execution!

The Role:

Prepare ingredients, cook and assemble dishes as indicated by recipes
Create and evaluate recipes, making menu changes as required to minimize overhead costs while ensuring guest satisfaction
Create and maintain operational procedures for BOH staff
Construct unique menus for special events throughout the year
Provide training to Brewpub staff on current and new menu items
Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
Set up and clean stations according with company procedures
Hire, train and motivate back of house staff to ensure sufficient help throughout the year and to enable timely delivery of food items
Inspecting work areas, supplies, ingredients, and cooking equipment to ensure constant conformance to regulatory standards
Manage labour costs, adjusting line coverage and schedules as needed to ensure proper staff coverage in accordance with business demands
Create and monitor back of house clean and prep procedures to ensure staff strictly adhere to cleanliness standards and health and safety protocols
Maintain up to date knowledge of culinary trends and engaging in continuous education
Oversee food inventory by performing counts, tracking costs, placing orders and adjusting items as required to maintain budgeted food costs
Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products
Utilize UKG to review and approve timecards and manage labor

Your Assets:

3-5 years of experience as a Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or resort, ideally in a supervisory or management role
Enthusiasm and a passion for craft beer (a big win for us, but not necessary!)
A strong understanding of cooking methods, procedures, and knife handling skills
Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
Understanding of different culinary techniques and profiles and a desire to learn new techniques and flavours
Ability to lead and inspire a team while remaining calm in a fast-paced environment (you flourish under pressure!)
Organized, and self-motivated with a friendly can-do attitude!

Working Conditions:

Standing, bending, stretching, and lifting and carrying are all part of the gig!
Weekday, evenings, and weekend shifts
