Summary of Duties
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is offering to sponsor nurses interested in completing the Emergency Department Certificate program through Humber College beginning in August. This is an exciting opportunity to diversify your career and develop emergency medicine skills. Candidates selected to participate in this full-time 11-week program (theory and clinical combined) will receive a conditional offer of full-time employment in the Emergency Department.
Course Starts September 2023
This offer includes your full-time salary while in the course and tuition costs. Books and any other required material are the responsibility of the candidate. Upon successful completion of the program, both academically and clinically, staffing needs will determine your schedule and orientation plan.
As a member of the Emergency Department, you are expected to perform as an RN whose practice will require a unique blend of generalized and specific patient assessments combined with specialized skills and knowledge to care for patients from all age groups.
Please note that you need a valid RN - CNO & valid Canadian status or an open work permit. If you are outside the Toronto area, you may be eligible for relocation & CCPN benefits upon the offer.
Qualifications/Skills
Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training preferred
Current TNCC certificate preferred
Current BCLS certificate required, ACLS preferred
Arrhythmia and ECG interpretation experience preferred
Minimum 1 year experience in Acute Care preferred
Successful completion of the Emergency Department review quiz
