Our world-famous manufacturing client in ORILLIA, ON is in need of a CERTIFIED Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team to help support the H&S Manager. If you have experience in a manufacturing environment in a steel and/or mining industry, then read on as this role was made for you.

The Role:
* Ensure the company remains compliant with all OH&S regulations, standards and guidelines
* Data collection, analyze and record workplace accidents, injuries, illnesses and incidents of unsafe acts
* Responsible for monitoring OH&S data management for leading and lagging KPI's including monthly, quarterly and annual injury stats
* monitoring accidents and claim trends requiring attention
* assist with the development/facilitation of OH&S safety training programs
* contribute to the maintenance of Company Occupational Health Surveillance programs for regulated and controlled substances, biological exposures, etc.
* participate in the WSIB and Safety Excellence Program
* Act as a resource for the receipt and resolution of OH&S inquiries received from all departments
* coordinate and/or conduct accident investigations with dpt supervisors for all lost time incidents, assisting with assessing problems and potential hazards, reviewing and advising on potential solutions, and making recommendations for improvements
* Coordinate Physical Demands Analysis and hazardous risk assessments for all positions
* Assist during MOL TSD or other agency inspection/audits
* Work with HR to facilitate return to work programs including (ESRTW) plans and modified work programs
* Act as the liaison between workers and management to advise of company and legislated health and safety policies and programs
* Schedule and coordinate meetings for the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including preparation of agenda and minutes
* Lead the Respiratory Protection Program, which includes conducting respirator fit testing, the Hearing Conservation Program and the Occupational Health Surveillance program as appropriate (e.g. Asbestos Control) and others as needed

Education, Experience & Training:
* Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is required
* 3-5 years related experience in health and safety management required
* Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) working towards or completed, is preferred
* Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
* Thorough working knowledge and understanding of all relevant Occupational Health and Safety and relevant environmental legislation, standards and guidelines is required
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio required
* Current certification in first aid and CPR preferred
* Demonstrated knowledge of WSIB & WSIB Safety Excellence Program required
* Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team building and presentation skills
* An understanding of workflow process analysis, incident investigation and risk management principles required
* Excellent planning and organization skills with an ability to handle multiple competing projects with tight deadlines
* Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and negotiation skills
* Experience working in manufacturing environment considered an asset
