Job Description:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Finance, IG MRO, the Accountant will work closely with the accounting team to complete various accounting tasks while working on projects that occur during the remainder of the month. The role will be integral to ensuring both closing and reporting are completed accurately and on time.

This position is based in the Edmonton, AB office, but is currently being done remotely. It will be for approximately a one year term, to cover for a maternity leave.


  • Reconcile and post deposits for all MRO (Maintenance, Repairs, Operations) companies.
  • Responsible for the job close process for certain MRO companies.
  • Create and maintain monthly accounts receivable and unbilled reports as well as AR Summary reports.
  • Various billing responsibilities, including T&M, Summary, and Lump Sum.
  • Various month end duties, including unbilled reports, AP accrual, safety incentive, and reversing journal entries.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or other business related field
  • 1-3 years' experience in an accounting role
  • Advanced computer skills and experience in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Familiar with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated, action oriented and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or independently on routine tasks with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation
