Employment Type:

Job Description:

No other bank is doing what we do.

At BDC, we're devoted to Canadian entrepreneurs. We're also dedicated to our employees. Adaptable. Inspiring. Different. There's a reason we like to work here and we think you'll like it too.

We are recruiting a Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant, Diversity who will be the right hand of the Director, Talent Planning and Acquisition and in charge of all diversity and inclusion aspects of talent acquisition.

During the first year, you will spend 30% of your time recruiting (10 positions max., head office groups to be defined) and 70% managing projects related to D&I Talent Acquisition. Then, once the AT D&I practice is harmonized, you will spend more time supporting your internal clients on their recruitments. By joining our team, you will have a major impact on the achievement of our national diversity targets!

The team will consist of 4 Senior Talent Acquisition Advisors (including you), 2 Talent Acquisition Advisors and 2 Coordinators. Each of us will be the flagship of a particular project, but we'll share the global volume, thus, ensuring to continuously deliver high quality services.

You will join a diverse and complementary team that:

  • Supports managers;

  • Works in "headhunting" mode;

  • Thinks "diversity" at every step of our recruitments (every TA advisor is accountable for his/her D&I strategy, within the scope of his/her portfolio).

YOUR FIRST YEAR' S OBJECTIVES

> Diversity Projects (70%): We are not alone in this adventure! We work closely with BDC's senior D&I advisors to continue to evolve our talent attraction practice and implement best practices in terms of diversity attraction.

There are a number of key issues that we still need to work on, such as:

  • Ensure we have the right partnerships in place to meet our goals;

  • Work with the Learning team on a training course to help managers interview specifically to attract more diverse candidates; and,

  • Implement Deloitte's Diversity and Inclusion recommendations based on their latest review of our entire talent acquisition process.

> Recruitments (30%):

  • Become a key partner within your client group;

  • Propose talent acquisition strategies that enable your clients to meet their current and future needs;

  • Develop trusting relationships with the talent acquisition team and your HR/diversity colleagues.

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Director, Talent Planning and Acquisition:

  • As soon as a position opens, guide the manager in thinking about the current composition of his/her team, whether it reflects our ambitions in terms of diversity, and influence him/her in this direction;

  • Develop trusting relationships with managers and become a key partner in:

    • The analysis of their current and future needs (challenging them, making them think about other avenues);

    • Understanding their role in attracting candidates;

    • Selecting criteria (perfection versus realism);

    • Proposing strategies to fill positions in an optimal and sustainable manner;

    • The search for and presentation of the best talent;

    • The selection / negotiation / hiring process.

  • Act as an ambassador of a culture in which the hiring process allows our candidates to have a distinctive experience;

  • Take charge, develop and adapt recruitment strategies, propose improvements to the team: you must have an overall view and keep a continuous improvement mindset despite daily operational needs;

  • Manage several recruitments from start to finish, prioritize and adjust in real time. As the team works hand in hand, we review each other's workloads at the beginning of the week and share the efforts in an equitable manner (you may therefore take on a recruitment outside your portfolio to help a colleague and vice versa);

  • Proactively develop and cultivate diverse pools of potential candidates based on your clients' needs;

  • Work in sourcing mode: Identify and convert the best people into potential candidates; master both the tools to find and the art of approaching passive candidates;

  • Build relevant partnerships with universities to strengthen BDC's brand and network to recruit talent, both locally and nationally;

  • Represent BDC and participate in networking activities, job fairs, etc. to increase awareness of our employer brand.

  • Open channels of discussion from a "potential talent pool" perspective with the various communities and organizations with which we already have ties (Our Children Medicine, Jumpstart Refugee Talent, etc.)

YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH US IF YOU RECOGNIZE YOURSELF:

  • You have 7 to 10 years of experience in talent acquisition and internal talent management, including senior positions and the management of internal executive level clients;

  • You're passionate about diversity, convinced of the richness it brings, aware that there is a long way to go to develop it further and patient in getting others to realize its full benefits;

  • You have an exceptional customer / candidate / team focus;

  • You understand that influencing and convincing others requires curiosity, listening skills and patience;

  • Confident in your abilities, you take initiatives and propose new avenues (even if it means being told 'no');

  • Ideally, you will have worked both in an agency and for a corporation, and you recognize yourself more in the team spirit ( versus competitive) where we all work together for the same company;

  • A positive, mobilizing person, always ready to lend a hand to others and who puts the success of the team before his/her personal success;

  • Energetic, quick on your feet, comfortable making decisions with the right amount of information;

  • Hands-on, you get things done (plan, organize, manage deadlines and multiple priorities) and you persevere until results are achieved;

  • You master the art of approaching passive candidates and attracting the right people for the right reasons.
