The Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy and initiatives will help the Director, Strategy and Corporate Development develop BDC's corporate strategy. As a great team worker, he or she will be instrumental in the development of the annual strategic retreats and related strategic initiatives.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Conduct research and analysis; deepen understanding of the organization, the market in which it operates and the needs of specific sectors/business segments.
Contribute to the identification of topics to be covered during the two strategic retreats (with the Senior Management Committee and the Board of Directors).
Build strategic documents synthesizing complex and detailed research and information to communicate key findings.
Contribute to the content development of the strategic retreats and their planning.
Be a key player in the implementation of strategic initiatives stemming from the company's strategy; contribute to the identification of the approach to be adopted (methodology, scope, work plan), take charge of the elaboration of workshops and strategic documents leading to conclusions and concrete actions.
Support the Director, Strategic Planning when required, more specifically during the Business Units Planning exercise.
Support the Direct Innovation when required, more specifically with market intelligence, fintech profiles and planning roundtable with innovation champions.
Keep abreast of major trends, in Canada and around the world, that could have an impact on SMEs and maintain an in-depth knowledge of BDC's activities and the environment in which it operates.
Bachelor's degree in commerce / administration; a graduate degree would be an asset
Five to eight years' relevant experience in strategy development
Experience in a consulting firm an asset
Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to develop and structure complex strategic planning documents
Ability to gather relevant information, produce summaries
Ability to understand economic and business trends and issues that affect SMEs, including financial service offerings (from banks and fintechs)
Ability to understand client needs and a natural tendency to adopt a client-centric approach (for both internal and external clients)
Excellent oral and written communication skills, in both official languages
Ability to work in a team and under pressure to meet tight and often-conflicting deadlines
Good judgment, tact and discretion
