For over 40 years, we've built everything from airport hangar doors, mine doors to large truck doors for warehouses. Now, we're looking for a talented draftsman with the ability to sell or willingness to learn to sell, to join our growing team. Structural Draftsman You will start out learning about our products on the field and then train with the owner on our designs and processes. Your main goal in this position is to collaborate with our clients, determine their needs, do takeoffs, and prepare detailed drawings in 2D and 3D that will be utilized in the manufacturing and installation of our products. You'll work closely with our owner, and clients to sell solutions, create designs and then convert those designs into technical drawings using AutoCAD and Ironcad. Specifically, you'll be responsible for: * Working with clients to understand their needs and then sell the right product and craft solutions to our clients * Communication with our team and clients to understand their technical requirements * Reviewing and working from rough sketches and specifications to translate designs for a variety of projects into computer software (AutoCAD & 3D models) * Doing takeoffs and preparing calculations and drawings for projects * Communicating with owner and other staff about project specifications * Performing material takeoffs, calculating installation/production costs and assembling final quotes * Ensuring final designs are compliant with codes and regulations * Coordinating any revisions/mark ups of working drawings * Conducting site visits to determine the constructability of projects Your incredible attention to detail, and ability to pull specifications and plans together to create technically accurate drafts, along with your ability to build and foster positive relationships with our clients, will drive your success in this role. You'll work closely with our team, clients, external project stakeholders, so your ability to communicate and deliver your message clearly will be essential. Working with us: This full-time, permanent position working out of our offices, located in Surrey/Port Kells, close to Highway 1. You'll work from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Qualifications: * 5+ years of drafting experience preferably in the construction industry * Ability to read, interpret, and design mechanical/structural construction designs, and drawings * Experience with computer-aided design and drafting using AutoCAD and Ironcad. * Strong knowledge of and experience with design principles and structural drafting techniques * Experience in a sales role within the construction industry would be an asset * Experience in structural detailing would be an asset * A post-secondary degree or diploma from a structural or mechanical engineering technology program would be an asset How to Apply You can apply to this online through our online application portal.
