Job Description:

Reporting to the Client Supervisor and to the Site Lead, the Journeyman Industrial Instrument Tech is responsible for the turnaround duties on site. We are a team of dedicated people who take pride in the work we do, the exceptional customers we serve, and the communities we call home.

This position in located in the Joffre, AB area on a client site.

Working Conditions

  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Turnaround from August 9 - September 16, 2021
  • Shift schedule - 10 hour per day for 6 days
  • Working in a live operating industrial plant and field
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working in and around heavy equipment
  • Hazard awareness
  • LOA provided
  • Camp not provided
  • Travel allowance not provided
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, sealed prescription eyewear (if applicable) etc .


  • Responsibilities

  • Trouble shooting various types of gas detection devices.
  • Automation troubleshooting:
  • Micro motion Coriolis metering;
  • Ultrasonic metering;
  • Guided and non-guided radar level measurement;
  • Viscosity and density analytical equipment experience; and
  • Pressure /temp and flow control loop tuning ability.
  • Interpret and use appropriate CSA, ISA and API installation standards and practices.
  • Perform calibrations of devices, loop checks of control systems.
  • Measure, cut, and bend tubing in pneumatic control systems.
  • Select, install, calibrate, and check sensing, telemetering, and recording instrumentation and circuitry, and develop specifications for nonstandard apparatus according to engineering data, characteristics of equipment under test, and capabilities of procurable test apparatus.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
  • Operate test apparatus during test cycle to produce, regulate, and record effects of actual or simulated conditions such as vibration, stress, temperature, humidity, pressure, altitude, and acceleration.
  • Analyze and convert test data to usable form and prepares graphs and written reports to translate test results.
  • Use computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce graphs.
  • Understand and practice company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in our health and safety program.
  • Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

  • Certified Journeyman Industrial Instrument Tech
  • Fall Protection
  • CSTS 2020
  • Ability to understand process of the facility and work with operations on an as needed basis
  • Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction
  • Pre-site Drug and Alcohol testing
  • Committed dedication to safety; reflected in practice and experience
  • Physical Requirements

  • The ability to climb 4 stories or more
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. on a continual basis
  • The ability to be exposed to various types of work environments
  • Use of various shop equipment and trade related hand tools
  • Use of ladders or scaffolding
