Reporting to the CFO & Vice President, Finance, the Director, Finance is instrumental to the organization where they will act as a controller and treasurer. The leader in this role must achieve outcomes that significantly contribute to the department's delivery of business value and support the corporation through its corporate strategic imperatives and initiatives. The Director will oversee an internal team and third-party partners to provide direction, vision, and overall accountability for their deliverables. The Director will also build and sustain a high performing team who demonstrate outstanding customer service and who provide quality work on a consistent basis.


Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness both internally and externally of all financial information, to uphold our commitment to fiscal responsibility
  • Manage and ensure the mitigation of ERAA risks by ensuring the development, implementation, and review of appropriate control mechanisms
  • Implement and manages effective frameworks for the areas of accountability, financial accounting, and budgeting
  • Leads the team responsible for the preparation and reporting of timely financial information, producing monthly and quarterly performance forecasts, the annual budget, cost reports, monthly and quarterly financial statements, operating analysis reports, reconciliations, maintaining capital schedules including depreciations, and reporting of capital projects, monthly inventory summaries, etc.
  • Prepare timely and insightful financial analysis and forecasts incorporating current data and meaningful benchmarks and targets in support of making business decisions
  • Work across the company to direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management
  • Provide departments with timely, accurate, and reliable financial information to track performance and understand revenue and cost drivers
  • Develop and maintain sufficient external linkages and contacts to gain and maintain and understanding of the environment (Financial Accounting best practices and trends) extrapolated into the 1-2-year future
  • Manage all tax planning, compliance, regulatory and statutory reporting for all required: federal, provincial, local, and payroll taxes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with auditors, counsel, bankers, lenders, and government agencies
  • Specific Requirements:

  • Post- Secondary degree in Finance/Accounting or related field
  • 15+ years related accounting experience at a level commensurate with the expectations and requirements of the role in a dynamic fast paced environment providing senior level financial analysis
  • 5+ years performing at a senior level
  • Canadian CPA designation
  • Experience leading teams of 10+ staff
  • Sound understanding of ASNPO and ASPE
  • Strong grasp of consolidation accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including modelling
  • Demonstrated treasury experience
  • Working knowledge of corporate tax return preparation
  • Strong work ethic and a proven track record of personal accountability
  • Has the ability and experience to identify risks and opportunities and translates them in terms of impact to his or her line of business
  • Assesses industry, economic and political trends in terms of broad functional impact
  • Outstanding and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Exceptional customer service orientation
