Overview / Responsibilities

Wood perform consulting and EPCM services for many of the world's leading mining companies and is executing world-class projects on five continents.

Wood currently has a short term opportunity for a Senior Metallurgical Engineer located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing engineering support for a variety of metallurgical projects, ranging from pre-feasibility studies to detailed engineering and providing on-site assistance to clients at their operating facilities. Responsibilities

  • Providing process engineering consulting services with a focus on mineral processing including crushing, milling, base metal flotation, and dewatering and on Cyanidation of precious metals
  • Conducting studies and detailing processes to extract and refine metals from ore
  • Liaising with client process engineers on design issues and incorporating client requirements in a cost effective and low risk manner
  • Managing schedule and budget, as well as documenting and managing changes to process design
  • Reviewing and approving process plant mass balances, process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts and 3-D models, technical specifications, technical evaluations and recommendations for equipment purchases
  • Participating and leading Preliminary Economic Assessments, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility studies as well as other types of engineering studies
  • Depending on current projects and opportunity, acting as a discipline lead on selected project team


Skills / Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in mineral processing operations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of project staff and management
  • Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills
