Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently seeking a Survey Assistant to join our team in Lethbridge , Alberta
As much as possible, we aim to hire in the local communities where we are working. In some cases, this may not be achievable, and people may need to undertake out of town travel to a worksite. Wood will provide accommodations and subsistence for crews when out of town work is required.
Role and Responsibilities :
- Assist the Survey Crew Chief with construction, legal, and topographic surveys including, but not limited to:
- Setting up survey instruments {GPS, Total Stations, Levels, etc.)
- Marking and installing survey stakes
- Marking and installing legal land markers
- Digging and exposing survey evidence
- Operating Vehicles including, but not limited to:
- Driving 1/2 to 3/4 -ton pickups
- Operating quads
- Operating snowmobiles
- Operating Equipment under the supervision of the Survey Crew Chief including, but not limited to:
- Operation of survey grade GPS
- Operation of total stations
- Operation of chainsaws, augers, impact hammers and generators
- Maintaining Equipment including but not limited to:
- Cleaning and maintaining survey equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining vehicles
- Cleaning and maintaining ancillary equipment
Skills / Qualifications
Requirements:
- Must have a Class 5 driver's license that is valid in Alberta
- A strong work ethic and demonstrates an attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Construction surveying for the layout of rural roads and highways would be considered an asset
Physical Demands:
- This position is physically demanding and requires long periods of standing/walking through rough terrain in construction environments, therefore only candidates willing to work in these conditions need apply
- Role may require extended out of town trips including overnight hotel stays
