Job Description:

To support Hemmera's continued growth in western Canada and the north we are looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Geosciences team. If you are a senior hydrogeologist with demonstrated experience, especially within the mining sector, we want to hear from you. Previous experience with a diverse portfolio of projects, clients, and leading technical teams including mentoring juniors and intermediates is required. Your role will be to provide technical expertise with the delivery of current projects, develop new business and provide senior technical support and mentorship to staff.

About the role

* Provide technical leadership in the areas of hydrogeological investigations, site wide water balance, groundwater modelling, contaminant transport, and environmental permitting requirements for mines and other large projects.
* Maintain industry/professional knowledge and actively participates in the ongoing upgrading of professional and leadership skills to ensure Hemmera remains ahead of the marketplace in terms of expertise.
* Assess work against guidelines, objectives and specifications, ensuring the quality of deliverables.
* Manage complex tasks related to projects while managing small multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, hydrogeologists, and risk assessors, as well as multiple contractors and subcontractors.
* Develop project proposals and lead the client development process through marketing plans and strategies.
* Maintain and grow your industry and professional knowledge and leadership skills to ensure Hemmera remains ahead of the marketplace.
* Seek out new business opportunities and act to identify opportunities to expand the scope of existing projects.
* Develop client relationships that facilitate successful delivery of projects and the maintenance of future/ongoing opportunities.
* Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and prospective clients.
* Promote and maintain a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation within the office, region, and between other areas of the organization.
* Train, grow and build responsibility in junior staff members in their technical skills, knowledge, and reporting.

You are entrepreneurial in nature, have previous experience in leading diverse range of complex projects, and are a client focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced team-approach environment. You have a strong understanding of hydrogeology and water management considerations in the context of the design, construction and operation of energy, mining, industrial, real estate, and transportation infrastructure Projects.

* You have a Master's degree in Hydrogeology or Environmental Engineering
* Professional registration in Alberta (or your province/territory) as a P.Eng., or P.Geo. is required.
* Minimum of 15 years of related progressive experience including at least 5 years in a Senior Technical or Project Manager role.
* Extensive and demonstrated project experience working on diverse and complex projects.
* Strong groundwater modelling background using MODFLOW, FEFLOW and other applicable applications.
* Northern Canadian experience is an asset, in particular work in permafrost environments
* Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining a team of professionals to support projects and the business.
* Is able to clearly express complex and challenging ideas, thoughts, and concepts; delivers information in a well-organized and engaging manner.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Proven ability to mentor and impart information, knowledge, and skills to Junior and Intermediate staff in the delivery of technical project work.
