We are currently looking for an Automation Engineer to join our team.

About the Opportunity:

The Automation Engineer will play an instrumental role in developing Inscape's automation strategy for future growth. Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance & Manufacturing Engineering, the Automation Engineer will project manage new product launches and existing equipment enhancements from a PLC and Robotic standpoint.

Responsibilities & what you'll be doing:

* Develop and manage detailed engineering project plans, including scope, risk analysis, return on investment, timelines, project teams, status reporting, budget and project conflicts (i.e. timing overruns/budget overruns/personnel interfaces);
* Assist in the planning, specification development, procurement, installation and launch of new tooling and equipment required for new programs;
* Assist with developing and maintaining preventative maintenance program when required;
* Support the maintenance team with trouble shooting PLC/Robotic breakdowns, and providing training in PLC, robotics and welding;
* Create and maintain Robotic and PLC programs;

* Liaise with vendors in the development of PLC programs by developing specifications and participating in the design and commissioning of new equipment and/or installations; coordinate and negotiate service contracts as necessary;
* Create and maintain welding schedules and parameters for the plant;
* Oversee and review manufacturing processes to ensure reliability, safety, quality and efficient plant operations;
* Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic equipment;
* Collaborate with supervisors and quality departments to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues;

* Support ISO9001:2015 Management System;
* Involvement in a variety of projects related to quality and continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

* Degree or diploma in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent. P. Eng license preferred. ASQ certifications such as a Six Sigma Green Belt an asset;
* 3+ years' experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry;
* Strong background with PLC's, programming, robotics, automation and lean manufacturing;
* Knowledge of certification bodies (C.S.A., U.L., etc.);

* Good knowledge of metal fabrication (stamping, roll forming, welding) processes, tooling, equipment;
* Knowledge with MiG and resistance welding an asset;
* Strong MS Office Suite skills. Familiar with AutoCAD and ISO Management Systems;
* Exceptional project management skills including project scoping, risk analysis, project planning, coordination of team/resources, etc.;
* Experience with budget development and management (capital/expense budgets), managing external contractors and contract negotiations;

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to create and maintain a positive environment;
* Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities;
* Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities;
* Demonstrated team player, self-motivated and a quick learner with a strong work ethic and dedication to timely and accurate reporting and project delivery.
