Job Description
The Director, Human Resources, People and Culture plays an integral role that develops and manages the human resources functions for the organization and its employees.
This position works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic advice, address human resources requirements, establish positive relationships with union officials, and provide guidance on industry best practices.
- Foster a safe and inclusive culture where people feel valued and inspired to do great work.
- Monitor effectiveness and quality of work life through periodic employee engagement activities.
- Build mutually respectful relationships with all bargaining agents and groups, leading employee and labour relations, the grievance, mediation, and arbitration process.
- Develop policies and procedures, and implements best practices, to support employees at work and ensures a workplace free of violence in every form.
- Oversee all Occupational Health and Safety activities.
- Analyze trends and implement best practices concerning wages, benefits, scheduling, time and attendance, recruitment and retention.
- Ensure a robust recruitment service, orientation program, education and training program, and retention strategy is in place, which includes managing compensation and benefits.
- Ensure that all employees comply with our Code of Behaviours and their respective professional standards, pertinent legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures.
- Design and implement human resources strategies and programs involving labour relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and resource planning.
- Provide human resources analysis, advice and implementation support to the leadership team.
- Identify leading human resources practices, resolve human resources issues, facilitate human resources initiatives and ensure consistent administration of policies and procedures.
- Develop, recommend, implement and interpret human resources policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring accuracy, completeness, fairness and legal compliance.
- Develop and implement appropriate human resources metrics and Key Performance Indicators.
- Develop a strategy to enhance diversity and inclusiveness in a safe and respectful work environment.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A minimum three (3) year diploma or degree in a human resources related field, from an accredited college or university.
- CHRP or CHRL considered an asset
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively complex human resources experience leading high performing teams.
- Successful and effective implementation and management of human resources programs and services, ideally in a health care setting.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of labour relations experience, ideally with multiple unions and collective agreements.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the application of practices and laws governing human resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present at a senior level.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills that can build credibility and collaboration.
- A demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, self-motivated and can effectively manage multiple deadlines and intense activity.
- Strategic yet pragmatic and can easily move between strategy and tactical execution in order to drive results and meet priorities.
- Proven discretion in handling confidential information.
- Successful criminal reference check is required.
